LIKE WE HAVE.> WE'LL SEE ENDS UP PLAYING THE BEST THIS WEEKEND BACK IN 2014 THE REBELS MADE THE TRIP TO OMAHA FOR THE FIRST TIME UNDER HEAD COACH MIKE BIANCO. A LOCAL PRODUCT WAS PART OF THAT HISTORIC TEAM. FORMER OLE MISS PITCHER AND MADISON CENTRAL GRAD JOSH LAXER WAS ON THE REBELS ROSTER WHEN THEY BROKE A 42 YEAR OLD DROUGHT WHEN THEY MADE IT TO THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES 8 YEARS AGO-A FIRST UNDER BIANCO. THIS YEAR'S SQUAD ARE THE FIRST TO BE IN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. BOTH TEAMS HAD TURNING POINTS IN THEIR SEASONS AND ARE IN UNCHARTED TERRITORY. LAXER SAYS THEY JUST NEED TO KEEP IT SIMPLE <I THINK THIS TEAM THEY HAVE JUST BEEN PLAYING PITCH BY PITCH EVERY SINGLE GAME OF THE POSTSEASON. AND SO IF THEY CAN KEEP THAT MENTALITY AND STAY COMFORTABLE OUT THERE LIKE THEY ARE AND LOCK IN FOR EVERY SINGLE PITCH AND NOT MAKE THE MOMENT BIGGER THAN IT ACTUALLY IS THEY'RE GOING TO KEEP DOING LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN DOING ALL POSTSEASON . YOU WORK SO HARD IN THE OFFSEASON LIKE I KNOW THEY HAVE AND ...YOU PLAY SO HARD ALL YEAR LONG AND GIVE ALL YOUR TIME AND YOU JUST LOVE SEEING THAT- SEEING THEM THERE BECAUSE THEY DESERVE IT> THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES STARTS TOMORROW NIGHT HERE'S THE TALE OF THE TAPE. OKLAHOMA HAS A 5-1 POSTSEASON RECORD AND ARE THE LAST UNBEATEN TEAM IN OMAHA. THE REBELS ARE PLUS 30 ON HOME RUNS OVER THE SOONERS. OLE MISS HAS A BETTER OVERALL TEAM E-R-A BUT BOTH TEAMS HAVE ALLOWED 3 TOTAL RUNS IN THEIR LAST TWO GAMES. AND HERE IS THE ROTATION FOR OLE MISS. JACK DOUGHERTY WILL GET THE START FOR ONE. AND FRESHMAN LEFTY HUNTER ELLIOTT WILL START GAME TWO. GAME ONE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES TOMORROW NIGHT AT 6 ON ESPN AND THE REBELS ARE HOSTING WATCH PARTIES THIS WEEKEND IN OXFORD. YOU CAN WATCH THE GAME AT SWAYZE FIELD. GATES OPEN 1 HOUR BEFORE GAME TIMES. IT'S FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. NO CONCESSIONS WILL BE PROVIDED SO YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING

Former Ole Miss pitcher Josh Laxer was on the 2014 Rebels team that made it to the College World Series for the first time under Mike Bianco. The Madison Central grad sees a lot of his old team in the current one which has become the first to play for a national championship under Bianco. He believes the Rebels have a good chance to win it all. They just have to keep their foot on the gas.
