Carmel Police Officer Shelby Jellison earns her DRE certification

Jellison

Last week, Carmel Police Officer Shelby Jellison completed the final portion of Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) training and became the first female DRE in Carmel Police history. Not only did she complete the training, but she graduated at the top of her class.

A DRE is an officer who is specially trained to detect drivers who may be drug impaired and identify the broad category or categories of drugs inducing the observable signs and symptoms of impairment. DREs are vitally important to the successful detection and prosecution of all impaired drivers and, in turn, play a key role in keeping roadways safe.

Congratulations to Officer Jellison on this impressive achievement.
