Bring the kids to Dairy Day June 25 at Carol Stream's Historic Farmhouse

June is National Dairy month and it's time for Dairy Day at the Farmhouse.

The Carol Stream Historical Society and the DuPage County Farm Bureau invite the community to celebrate the dairy heritage of the area on Saturday, June 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Historic Farmhouse, 301 W. Lies Road in Carol Stream.

This free family friendly event will feature farmhouse and garden tours, complimentary ice cream from Prairie Farms, dairy handouts from the DuPage Farm Bureau, and a used book sale. Guests will learn how the dairy industry of 100 years ago was vastly different from that of today.

A new exhibit at the event will offer insights into the dairy history of the one-time farm and the once thriving local dairy industry. Historic photos and dairy implements are featured in the exhibit.

Not so long ago, many barns, both large and small, were common in the area. Most have disappeared as the population has grown. The Historical Society, in an effort to preserve vestiges of area's rural past, collects vintage photos of farm scenes, family photos, and particularly of area barns. Community members may contact the Society through the Carol Stream Historical Society Facebook page or "Contact Us" at CarolStreamHistoricalSociety.com for additional information about contributing photos for preservation.

The Carol Stream Historical Society seeks to preserve local history, past and present.
