Vermillion Tanagers 10U are champs at Wayne Classic held in Wayne, Nebraska on June 18 and 19, 2022.
The talented Tanagers team had stellar pitching, great defense, and exceptional hitting outscoring their opponents 27-1 in the tourney.
Vermillion knocked off Wayne U10 travel team 8-1 in their first game of the tourney. Emerson Jarchow took the win throwing four shutout innings. Sam Vitt threw two innings in relief.
The Tanagers defeated West Point Dodgers 13-0 earning a spot in the championship game. Kellen Beach got the victory on the mound and struck out seven Dodger batters. Braxton “Lefty” Merideth threw two innings of relief.
The Tanagers shutdown the West Point Cardinals 6-0 in the championship game. The Cardinals were previously undefeated heading into the game. Emerson Jarchow and Sam Vitt combined to throw a NO-HITTER and struck out 13 batters. Kellen Beach and Luke Uhl both made highlight reel plays defensively for the Tanagers.
Offensively in the tourney the Tanagers were led by Emerson Jarchow six hits and five RBIs, Luke Uhl five hits and five RBIs, and Kellen Beach four hits and six RBIs.
Reid Reuvers and Braxton “Lefty” Merideth collected three hits apiece. Sam Vitt and Braxton Moeller added two hits each.
Additionally, the Tanagers upended Yankton 11U Travel Team by scores of 8-3 and 10-9 earlier in the week with games played in Yankton, SD.
Vermillion Tanagers 10U Travel Team record now stands at 18-7-1.
