Keystone 11s shut down Montour, 13-0

MONTOURSVILLE, PA – The Keystone 11-year-old all-stars got off to a flying start Friday evening, riding the pitching and hitting of Bryan Rote to a 13-0 District 12 opening round win at Montoursville.

Rote proved unhittable on the mound: going all four innings in a 4-inning contest, facing 13 batters, striking out 10, walking two and surrendering no hits. At the plate Rote was 2-for-3 with two homeruns and four RBIs.

Manager Cole Hanley’s team also got dingers from Carter Frank who went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and Evan Batterson who was 2-for-2 with his homer and two RBIs. Logan Bower added a single and two RBIs and Maverick Shultz had a double and an RBI.

Keystone is off until next Friday, July 1, a winners’ bracket final against the survivor from Jersey Shore/GSV and Loyalsock. Those two teams are to play Tuesday, June 28. JS/GSV opened play on Friday with a 6-4 win at East Lycoming. The July 1 game will be at Williamsport.
