South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Craig Brown sentenced Larry Scipio, Jr. to life in prison Friday after a jury found him guilty of killing a man in 2019, according to Twelfth Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements.
It happened at a home in the 3100 block of Tall Oaks Drive where deputies found a shooting victim. Rico G. Johnson, 27, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators say Larry Ja Juan Scipio, Jr., knocked on Johnson's front door, and when Johnson answered, Scipio entered the home and shot Johnson multiple times.
Deputies said Johnson and Scipio were believed to have been involved in a disagreement earlier in the day.
Clements said Deputy Solicitor Todd Tucker did an excellent job trying the case.
“I was very proud of Todd he did a wonderful job putting this case together. Wasn’t an easy case. We are real glad. We got the verdict for the victim’s family and for the circuit,” said Clements.
