SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia has received a $50,000 patient transportation grant from the Healthcare Foundation.

The grant will be used to safely escort patients to and from St. Mary’s Hospital.  Whether patients are going home after a stay in the hospital or getting to an appointment this grant will provide that service.

The Regional Foundation Director for SSM Health Kay Zibby-Damron notes the health of the community is dependent on people’s ability to access healthcare and they know transportation poses a barrier for many people in the area.

The Healthcare Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to assist with the medical needs of residents in Clinton, Marion, Jefferson, and Washington Counties.
