A man who stole a blue station wagon led police on a chase down Highway 58 Friday that ended in a crash, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says.
HCSO says a deputy attempted to stop the stolen vehicle on Highway 58.
After running the tag, HCSO says it was found it belonged to a stolen station wagon wanted out of Huntsville, Tennessee.
As deputies tried to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to pull over and a pursuit ensued southbound on Highway 58, HCSO says.
The pursuit led deputies throughout several roads leading off Highway 58, HCSO says.
Once returning to Highway 58, HCSO says the driver traveled north until they crossed the median where the vehicle collided with a HCSO patrol unit trying to stop it from driving into oncoming traffic.
At that time, HCSO says the vehicle came to a stop and the driver fled on foot. He was later apprehended by deputies after a short on-foot pursuit.
The man was transported by HCEMS to a local medical facility for medical review as a precaution. The deputy involved in the crash did not sustain injuries, HCSO says.
The driver was identified by HCSO as Randy Ridge of Harrison, Tennessee.
HCSO says he is currently facing charges of multiple traffic violations: theft of property, reckless endangerment, and felony evading.
In addition to tonight’s charges, HCSO says Ridge has outstanding warrants for driving on suspended, theft, and failure to appear.
