Firefighters stopped a vegetation fire burning in a known transient camp off of Keswick Dam Road in north Redding on Friday afternoon.
Officials with the Redding Fire Department (RFD) said the fire was first reported burning at 3048 Keswick Dam Road at 3:11 p.m. They responded to the area and found a vegetation fire burning 1/4-acre in an open area near an illegal transient encampment.
Units from RFD and CAL FIRE's Shasta Trinity Unit extinguished the fire within five minutes of their arrival and stopped it from spreading. No structures were damaged by the fire and no injuries were reported.
Redding Fire Investigators determined the fire was human-caused, however, their investigation is ongoing.
