1 dead, 1 critically injured in shooting in Uptown

EDITOR’S NOTE: This story originally stated that the shooting occurred at the Charlotte Transportation Center. CMPD clarified that the shooting did not occur there, but the victims ended up there.


CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and another injured after a shooting occurred Friday night in Uptown.

Shortly before 9 p.m., CMPD investigators were called out to the 1000 block of West Trade Street for a shots fired call. When they arrived, they learned that two gunshot wound victims were taken to the Charlotte Transit Center on the 300 block of East Trade Street.

One of the victims died on the scene at the CTC. MEDIC says the injured person was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

CMPD said Friday night’s shooting is completely unrelated to the abortion rights demonstration and march in Uptown.
