(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 35-year-old Frankfort man has been indicted on child-pornography charges, federal prosecutors in Chicago announced Friday.
Brandon J. Bergthold, who is charged with possession and transportation of child pornography, has a previous conviction for an offense involving a minor and has had to register as a sex offender, authorities said.
From July to September 2021, Bergthold allegedly sent illegal images to an individual on the Kik messaging platform, according to court documents. The individual was actually an undercover law enforcement officer.
Bergthold possessed an image of child pornography on his cell phone last August, and he transported an image in October, prosecutors said.
Bergthold — who communicated under the screen name “freakybrando86” — is in federal custody.
