TY: THAT BREAKING NEWS IS A FIRE BURNING IN PLACER COUNTY, NORTH OF LINCOLN, A GRASS FIRE, HIGHWAY 65, BOUNDED BY TWO ROADS, SHERIDAN-LINCOLN ROAD, MAYBE SOME CLOSURE THERE. WE'RE ALSO HEARING ABOUT SOME EVACUATION ORDERS, EVACUATION ORDER FOR RANCH HOUSE ROAD, EVACUATION WARNING FOR THE AREA OF CAMP FIRE WEST, ALL THE WAY TO RANCH HOUSE ROAD. MARK WAS MENTIONING IN OUR 4:00 P.M. HOUR, POSSIBLE PROPERTIES ARE THREATENED, HENCE THE EVACUATION ORDERS. BE AWARE IF YOU'RE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THIS AREA, EMERGENCY VEHICLES ARE GOING TO BE AROUND YOU, SO DEFINITELY TAKE IT SLOW, BUT STEADY AND GET OUT IF YOU CAN. FORTUNATELY, MARK, NOT A LOT WIND RIGHT NOW, BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF DRY FUELS. MARK: YEAH. IT'S VERY DRY GRASS IN THIS AREA. THE STEADY WIND AROUND 10 MILES AN HOUR, SO HERE'S HIGHWAY 65, THIS IS SHERIDAN-LINCOLN ROAD, IT'S OLD HIGHWAY 65, IF YOU WILL, AND THEN THIS IS SHERIDAN ITSELF. SO THIS IS HALFWAY BETWEEN WHEATLAND AND LINCOLN. RIGHT NOW, THE WIND IS TAKING IT IN THIS DIRECTION. THE LAST ESTIMATED SIZE WAS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF 55 ACRES. SO THIS HAS BURNED QUITE A BIT AND YOU HEARD ABOUT RANCH HOUSE ROAD, THAT'S SHERIDAN LINCOLN ROAD AND JUST TO EAST OF THAT, THAT'S RANCH HOUSE ROAD AND FARTHER TO THE NORTH IN TO THE TOWN OF SHERIDAN, THAT'S THE DIRECTION THAT THIS THING HAS BEEN BURNING. IT DOES LOOK AS THOUGH THEY MAY HAVE SLOWED THIS THING DOWN A LITTLE BIT. THERE HAS BEEN AN AIR ATTACK ON THIS AS WELL AS CREWS ON THE GROUND, BUT STILL, IF YOU ARE IN THIS AREA, YOU'VE BEEN ASKED TO GET OUT. Evacuations lifted after Placer County spot fires halted
Crews have gained control of two fires in Placer County that have led to evacuations for nearby residents Friday afternoon, according to Cal Fire, the state's fire management agency. Those evacuation orders and warnings have since been lifted.The fires were reported around 4:05 p.m., Cal Fire said. They are burning near Sheridan Lincoln Boulevard between the town of Sheridan and the City of Lincoln.Cal Fire at 5:02 p.m. said forward progress has been stopped for both fires. One fire burned about 25 acres, and the other stopped about 30 acres. When fire officials say they stop the forward progress of a fire, that means they have stopped the flames from spreading in a particular direction(s).Homes on Ranch House Road were ordered to evacuate, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Evacuation orders are issued when there is an immediate threat to life, and it is mandatory to leave immediately.The sheriff's office said at 4:51 p.m. that Camp Far West to Ranch House Road is under an evacuation warning. With evacuation warnings, you are not required to leave but are encouraged to be ready to leave at a moment's notice in case fire behavior becomes threatening to safety.
