ALL SMILES, BUT WANT TO GET GUN SHOP OWNER FIRED UP. JUST START TALKING ABOUT GUN RIGHTS. THEY’RE SCRATCHING THE BULL AT 11:00. I BELIEVE EVERY AMERICAN HAS THE RIGHT AS A SECOND AMENDMENT SAYS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES THIS LATEST GUN BILL WON’T TAKE AWAY THE RIGHT TO OWN HANDGUN AND IT DOESN’T EVEN GET INTO THE ISSUE OF AUTOMATIC WEAPONS. Steve Brackeen is normally all smiles but if you want to this gun shop owner fired up, just start talking about gun rights."I believe every American has the right, as the Second Amendment says, to protect themselves," said Brackeen, owner of Blue Steel Guns & Ammo.This latest federal gun safety bill won't take away the right to own handguns and doesn't even get into the issue of automatic weapons."I'm comfortable with what passed," Brackeen said.One of the biggest parts of this new legislation is making sure that guns don't end up in the hands of people could harm the public or harm themselves. That's something that the staff here at Blue Steel said they have always done. They said the policies aren't much different than what were in place before."I even have a list at the register, where parents have called in and said, 'My son is mental. My husband is mental whatever, you can't sell them a gun.' We keep that at our register. If one of those people would come in, we do deny them the sale of a firearm," Brackeen said.Brackeen said that most legal gun owners are responsible people. He said that laws can help, but in the end you can't legislate against random acts of violence."A car salesman sells you a car, that doesn't mean you are a good driver, right? They have no control over that either. So, all you can do is preach and teach safety and it's up to each individual how they use that knowledge," Brackeen said.
