(DALLAS) - Dallas civil rights attorney Justin Moore is offering pro bono assistance to Texas women affected by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health case made earlier today.

The SCOTUS decision effectively overturned abortion access protections that were previously established in the monumental Roe v. Wade case in the 1970s.

Following the decision, Dallas native Justin Moore, ESQ. took to Twitter to offer free legal representation for women who might be arrested for receiving or performing an abortion.

Moore, a graduate of Morehouse College and SMU Dedman School of Law, is known for his work in prisoner clemency and representation of police brutality victims. His cases are well known in the DFW area and have been featured in a number of national media outlets.

Moore is also an advocate for criminal justice reform as well as social justice. He says the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was a blow to the rights of women.

"I'm outraged by the decision," he said. "This decision is not only harmful to women, it lays the groundwork for other unenumerated rights."

There is no constitutional right to an abortion in America after the Supreme Court ruling. Additionally, a Texas trigger law (formerly known as Senate Bill 8) passed by the Texas Legislature in its last session will effectively ban all abortions from the moment of fertilization in the state of Texas, with just a few exceptions.

Moore says the burden of this decision and subsequent trigger laws should not be carried by women alone.

"It’s important for all citizens to take the SCOTUS opinion on Dobbs personally," he said. "Women are the backbone of this country, and a threat against their humanity should be taken as a threat against all of us- because, in the realest sense, it is."
