The Ontario County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash in Canandaigua on Friday.

Deputies and multiple local fire departments responded to the report of a three-car crash near Route 20.

Investigation found 86-year-old Charles McCaig was traveling eastbound on Route 20, when he rear-ended another eastbound vehicle that was stopped waiting to make a turn onto the Buffalo Street exit. The stopped vehicle was pushed to the side of the road, and McCaig continued forward and collided with a vehicle traveling westbound on Route 20.

McCaig was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The two occupants of the westbound vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening. The sole occupant of the parked eastbound vehicle suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
