Around Town: July 4 music with fireworks; guided walks set; League honors West's Kasney

Staff reports
A large crowd gathered July 4, 2021, in downtown Hendersonville for Fourth of July fireworks.

Local radio stations WHKP (1450 AM, 107.7 FM, WHKP.com) and also WTZQ (1600 AM, 95.3 FM and WTZQ.com) will be airing music that will coincide to the fireworks display downtown.

WHKP will actually be airing two specials on July 4.

According to a press release, at 7 p.m., WHKP's Tyler Sams will air a two-hour classic country music Fourth of July program. This will be followed by the fireworks music. WHKP worked with fireworks promoter Dustin Gosnell to air music especially selected by him to match this year's fireworks show in Henderson County.

When the fireworks begin, listeners can tune into 107.7 FM or 1450 AM to hear this special musical backdrop for this years fireworks show, the release said. The music program can also be streamed through smart phones or smart speakers.

"WHKP pioneered this music behind the fireworks show 30 years ago here in our area and is pleased to present it again this year," WHKP Vice President Richard Rhodes said in the release.

For WTZQ, it's the fourth year it has had the program where the music is the backdrop for the fireworks, according to a press release.
