Officers with the Redding Police Department (RPD) Bike Team made multiple arrests during their patrol in the downtown and Hilltop Drive areas on Thursday. One arrest included a burglary suspect believed to be involved in multiple recent burglaries and thefts in the area.
The RPD said their bike team officers learned about a recent burglary at a business on Bechelli Lane on Wed., June 22. During the robbery, a laptop computer was stolen from the business.
After investigating, officers identified 24-year-old Bobby Lee Oetzel of Redding as the burglary suspect. They also learned Bobby had multiple warrants for his arrest, including multiple failure-to-appears.
At around 6:20 p.m., during their patrol on Thursday, bike team officers found Oetzel walking along Alfreda Way and took him into custody. They searched him and eventually found the stolen laptop.
The RPD believes Oetzel is a suspect in multiple other burglaries and thefts in the Hilltop Drive and Bechelli Lane areas. If you have information regarding Oetzel being a suspect in a recent theft or burglary, please contact RPD Bike Officer Chad Gross at (530) 225-4200.
The laptop's owner was found and police returned the computer to them. Additionally, the RPD said their bike team made numerous other contacts during their patrol on Thursday which resulted in five other arrests.
