Daytona Beach woman, 30, killed in crash on Interstate 95 in Port Orange

Troopers are investigating after a Daytona Beach woman died in a crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 95 in the Port Orange area.

The fatal wreck occurred shortly before 3 p.m. in the southbound lanes, just north of the Dunlawton Avenue interchange, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. It shut down the inside southbound lane for a few hours.

Witnesses told troopers the 30-year-old victim, who was driving a 2016 Honda Civic, made an improper lane change, striking the rear left side of a 2015 Honda CRV, according to a news release from FHP. 

The civic left the roadway and struck a tree; the driver died at the scene, troopers said.

The 25-year-old North Carolina woman driving the CRV and her two passengers were uninjured, according to FHP.
