Firefighters went to a quarter-acre vegetation fire in the 2970 block of Keswick Dam Road on Friday afternoon, June 24, 2022.

Traffic controls were in place Friday afternoon on Keswick Dam Road as firefighters fought a vegetation fire there.

The fire burned a quarter-acre of grass and brush after it was reported about 3:10 p.m. No structures were damaged and no one was injured, Redding fire officials said in a report released Friday evening.

Crews from the city's fire department and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection quickly circled the fire with a hose line and canceled additional engines. They stayed on scene for about two hours to mop up the area, which officials say is known to have homeless encampments.

Investigators say the fire was human caused and their investigation continues. Anyone with additional information about this fire is asked to call the fire department at 530-225-4141.
