Hundreds of spectators are expected to meet at Howard Amon Park for the 2022 Richland Regatta.
The event will take place at The North Howard Amon Boat Launch.
The weekend long festivities will consist of three full days of hydroplane racing on the Columbia River.
North Howard Amon Boat Launch will be closed to the public through Sunday evening for boats, crews, and event staff use.
"That first year I came down and walked through the park and saw what a great venue it was, and that it's free, there's families down here watching the races that may not be able to go to the unlimited hydroplane races," said Charlie Grigg, President of Northwest Powerboat Association.
Columbia River will be closed to traffic in both directions on Saturday and Sunday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Newton Street to Fingernail will close to motorized traffic, but will be open for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Parking is available off Lee Boulevard behind the Fingernail and The Richland Community Center.
Coordinators invite the community to come out and enjoy the free event with various food and beverage vendors.
