Twin Cities Pride Organizers are expecting more than 300,000 people will attend the Pride Festival this weekend. This year is the 50th anniversary of the event in Minnesota, which would rival any event the organization has put on according to their board chair Felix Foster.

“Our biggest year was about 400,000 people, after the marriage equality bill in 2015,” Foster said. “Probably somewhere around 350,000 to 400,000.”

The 50th event will have around 400 vendors in Loring Park with food, entertainment and informational booths while the Pride March will take place Sunday on Hennepin Avenue at 11:00 a.m.

A special Carly Rae Jepsen concert will be held in conjunction with the event at the Armory Saturday night.

“Our biggest concert ever, and we usually do it in the park,” explains Foster. “So this will be a really fun way to kind of celebrate our 50th and go extra big for that piece of it.”

You do have to buy tickets for the event, either online or as a walk-up. They will also be on sale at the Festival in Loring Park. The concert starts at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.

“Our theme this year is past, present and future,” Foster said. “I've been kind of saying, we're really taking it to heart.”

This year’s event will feature plenty of history of the organization and the LGBTQ community as a whole. The event's march on Sunday morning will be back on Hennepin Avenue for the first time since 2018 due to construction issues and the pandemic.
