Lutsen 99er returns with riders ranging from 1 to 79 years old

DULUTH, MN-- Bike enthusiasts will be traveling from 37 states and five countries to participate in a friendly bike race on the North Shore.

The 11th annual Lutsen 99er returns to the Lutsen Mountains this weekend.

Organizers said more than 1,800 cyclists will flock to the North Shore for the 99, 69, 49, 25-mile and junior’s distance mountain bike races.

The youngest rider, signed up for the Juniors race, is a one-year-old while the oldest is 79.

The Lutsen 99er features more than 7,000 feet of elevation gain through Forest Service roads and snowmobile and ski trails of Superior National Forest.

Event festivities begin Friday evening with live music and BBQ and the race takes place Saturday morning.
