Body recovered from water at Clarksville park following search and rescue

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities in Clarksville have recovered a body following a search and rescue mission Friday.

The situation unfolded at Billy Dunlop Park.

Just after 3 p.m. Friday, the Clarksville Police Department closed the park after reports of a missing person last seen in the water at the park. Witnesses said a man in his early 20s went underwater and never came back up.

Clarksville Fire and Rescue and Montgomery County Ambulance Service conducted a search and rescue operation, along with Clarksville police. The body was recovered just before 8 p.m.

There is no word on the identity of the victim.
