West Orange four-star defensive back Jordan Castell is down to three schools.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound senior, who received more than 25 Power 5 offers, has narrowed his list to Alabama, Florida and Tennessee (in alphabetical order).

"It's really hard," Castell told the USA Today Network. "A lot of coaches showing a lot of love. Just really grateful for the position that I'm in. But I kind of closed it down. I realized in this trip that you have to be kind of selfish."

Castell is No. 67 on the USA Today Florida Network top 100. He is the No. 15 safety and the No. 216 overall recruit in the nation on the 247Sports composite.

West Orange Warriors’ Jordan Castell reaches for the ball at the Florida High School Association 7v7 tournament in The Villages on Friday, June 24, 2022.

Announcement to come October 1

Castell primarily played cornerback for West Orange in 2021 when it went 11-2 and lost to eventual Class 8A champion Venice in the regional championship game. He recorded 36 total tackles and tied with Javan Robinson (currently at Washington State) for the team lead with two interceptions.

Castell also broke up four passes, recovered two fumbles and returned both of them for touchdowns last fall.

West Orange football coach Geno Thompson praised Castell for his work ethic and desire to improve as a leader.

"Jordan is a worker," Thompson said. "We do weight lifting from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., then he goes and does DB training. Then he goes and works on his other things in the afternoon. He's getting better as a leader. When he was younger, he more so  focused on himself and his performance. Now, he's making sure the younger guys understand their responsibility and how it affects the team.. He's making huge jumps in that direction."

Castell broke down some of what he liked about each of his three finalists for USA Today.

Alabama

"Bama is just a lot of love. I know their history for DBs. I know what they can do for me, bring me to the next level, get my body right, my mind right, academics. It's Alabama."

Florida

"Coach (Billy) Napier is just a great dude. And we just got coach (Corey) Raymond and coach (Patrick) Toney. These guys are really going to come in here and change the program."

Tennessee

"Coach BJ (linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary) is from Apopka. That's like 30 minutes away from me. He knows a lot about me. It's just a lot of love."

Castell plans to announce his college decision on Oct. 1.
