Ullin man arrested after 1 injured in shooting

ULLIN, Ill. (KBSI) – An Ullin man faces several charges after a man was injured in a shooting.

Robert E. Nelson, 56, faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm (Class X Felony), aggravated discharge of a firearm (Class 1 Felony) and reckless discharge of a firearm (Class 4 Felony).

On June 22, at about 8:57 p.m., the Ullin Police Department requested Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Zone 7 to investigate a shooting that occurred on the 400 block of Kentucky Street in Ullin.

A 32-year-old Ullin man was found near the roadway with an injury due to gunfire, according to Illinois State Police.

Nelson was located and detained by the Ullin Police Department and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department. He was arrested by the ISP DCI Zone 7.

On June 23 the Pulaski County State’s Attorney filed charges.

Nelson was released from the Tri-County Detention Center in Pulaski County on a $30,000 bond.
