The Cubs and Cardinals are kicking off a three-game series tonight in St. Louis. Kyle Hendricks is on the mound for Chicago, while the rookie Andre Pallante takes the bump for St. Louis. Here’s a look at David Ross’ lineup for the opener.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Christopher Morel, CF
- Willson Contreras, DH
- Ian Happ, LF
- Patrick Wisdom, 3B
- Jonathan Villar, 2B
- Yan Gomes, C
- Nico Hoerner, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
SP: Kyle Hendricks, RHP
With a night game tonight before the early game tomorrow, Willson Contreras is taking over DH duties, which pushes Yan Gomes behind the plate and Rafael Ortega to the bench.
That leaves right field for Jason Heyward and second base for Jonathan Villar, who baths fifth.
The Cardinals righty, Pallante, actually has pretty significant reverse splits this season (righties hitting him better), but he’ll get two lefties and two switch-hitters batting lefty tonight.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (7:15 CT on AppleTV+).
