Suspect from Greenville shooting arrested, under $1 million bond

GREENVILLE, Pitt County —
Officials with the Greenville Police Department arrested a man in connection to a shooting that left one person injured at Sterling Pointe.

Charles Torekeyo Highsmith, 27, of Greenville was charged with:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
- Felony conspiracy
The shooting happened after 6 p.m. in the Sterling Pointe parking lot Thursday, June 23, 2022.
Nicholas J. Edwards, of Greenville, was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and officials expect him to recover.
Detectives believe the shooting was targeted and the investigation is ongoing.
Highsmith was jailed in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.
