Massillon retailer Discount Outlet cites pandemic, economy in decision to close BV store

JACKSON TWP. – Citing the coronavirus pandemic and economy, Discount Outlet has closed its location in the Belden Village shopping district.

A sign posted on the door at the Belden Square Plaza location referred customers to the company's store at 1070 First St. NE in Massillon, saying all exchanges, returns and coupons would be accepted.

"Due to the COVID pandemic and current economic conditions, we are permanently closing our doors effective immediately," the sign read. "We appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you in our Massillon store."

Employees at the Massillon location couldn't comment about the Belden Village store. Discount Outlet owners didn't reply to a request for comment.

Discount Outlet opened in Massillon in the late 1980s. The second location at Belden Square Plaza opened in October 2018, filling a spot that had been leased to Marc's.
