An investigation is underway in North Carolina after a suspect died while in custody.
The Fletcher Police Department has released the names of the officers involved in the incident.
According to the Fletcher Police Department, officers were called to an apartment around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night on Seasons Circle.
Officers said a woman called 911 and reported a man wouldn't let her leave and that the man was possibly on drugs.
When officers arrived, they said they encountered Christopher Robert Hensley, 35, leading to a fight between officers and Hensley.
"Officers initially responding to the 911 call for help and members of the sheriff’s office who were requested to assist the Fletcher Police Department include Sgt. Michael Elizondo, Officer Michael Teets, Deputies Seth Summey, Zack Ritter, Josh Garren, Zach Warren, and Rob Martin," according to a release from the police department.
Investigators said Hensley was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody but after he was handcuffed, he became unresponsive.
Officers began CPR. Hensley was taken to a hospital where he did, officers said.
Two officers were taken to a hospital after the incident with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Fletcher Police Department said the investigation has been turned over to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
