Robert (Bob) Dean McAtee

Robert (Bob) Dean McAtee, 75, of Madison AL, Madsion County, and formerly of Advance, MO, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at UAB Hospital, in Birmingham, AL. He was born in Smith Center, KS on September 11, 1946, to parents Ralph L. and Jacqueline (Netz) McAtee. Bob was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was most proud to be a Vietnam Veteran,and served his country in the US Navy for over 20 years.  He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 3416, Wappapello, MO and more recently the VFW Post 2702 in Huntsville, AL. He looked forward to the annual AOE Sailors Association convention with his Navy buddies every year. He also was a member of the Mobile Riverine Force Association.
Bob very much liked volunteering at the VFW and church. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Advance for many years, and served as a trustee and Sunday School Superintendent.
Bob had been a hunter most of his life, and an avid gun collector. He collected coins, enjoyed poetry and anything to do with US History.
Anyone who knew Bob, knows how much he liked sharing his many life stories in conversation.  His grandkids meant the world to him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: Larry McAtee and sister: Becky Glueck.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; by his sons: Robert S. McAtee of Beaumont CA, Dean McAtee and wife Katherine of Madison AL, Travis McAtee of Phoenix AZ; step-daughter: Tammy McAtee and husband Ronnie of Advance; grandchildren: Nathaniel “Diz” McAtee, Mariam McAtee, and Natalie McAtee;
brothers: Richard McAtee and wife Peggy of Lowndes MO, Ron McAtee and wife Sharon, of Advance, MO,  Ralph L. McAtee Jr. and wife Patty, of Greenville MO,  Paul McAtee and wife Katie of Festus MO, William McAtee and wife Debbie of Poplar Bluff MO, and John McAtee and wife Mary Beth of Piedmont MO; sisters: Kathy Elfrink and husband Earl of Advance MO,  Evelyn Camden of Norfolk, VA., Alice Amelunke of Phoenix AZ, and Claire Ostrander of Colorado.
Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, also in the Greenville Chapel.
