Swann Joins Library Board

The newest member to the Grant County Library Board of Trustees is Steve Swann. He is the Pastor of Herreid Baptist Church in Ulysses. Steve and his family are no strangers to Ulysses. They had lived here for five years, moved away for five years and returned to Ulysses ten months ago.

Steve was approached by one of the library board members about joining the board. After consideration, he decided to take on the challenge. According to Swann, “our local library is a critical component of the nucleus of our community with a lot to offer the public.”

Steve has been married to his beloved wife, Marcia, for 27 years. They have three children. Caleb is married to Kayley and they live in Wichita with their son, Colter. Candice resides in Satanta with her husband, Bobby, and their three children - Aiden, Joshua and Falynn. Their youngest child, Sarah, is married to Timothy and lives in Nome, Alaska. In his free time, Steve likes to walk, ride his bicycle, participate in role-play games, backpack and travel to experience different cultures.

When asked what he hopes to accomplish as a member of the library board, Steve replied, “to do my part of making sure our library stays viable and relevant to our current and future residents. I am privileged to be on the board with others who have done great things in the past and I’m looking forward to continuing that legacy.”

In closing, Swann added, “If anyone has any questions or ideas for the library and/or community, voice them. This is our community; we would love to hear from anyone bold enough to use their voice for our betterment.”
