Reaction to the Supreme Court ruling striking down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision is falling along party lines.
Democrats in the state are outraged by the decision. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says the ruling makes America “less free and more dangerous,” while Senator Tammy Duckworth says she’s “horrified” by a decision that will put women’s lives at risk. But Republican Congressmen Darin LaHood and Mary Miller call the Dobbs decision a “victory for the sanctity of life.”
Meanwhile, Springfield Catholic Bishop Thomas John Paprocki says the ruling “lifts a cloud” that has hung over the nation for 50 years, and opens the door to an honest debate on how to protect innocent life and support vulnerable mothers.
