The driver in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Phillipsburg has died, the Warren County prosecutor reports.

The driver was identified as Ashton Sultan, 21, of Jersey City, New Jersey, Prosecutor Jim Pfeiffer told lehighvalleylive.com on Friday.

Sultan was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem Township. He died from crash injuries and his death was ruled an accident, Pfeiffer said.

The wreck happened about 3 p.m. as a Honda Civic that Sultan was driving was headed west on Memorial Parkway, Pfeiffer said. Another vehicle came across the turnaround on what is also known as Route 22 into his path near Hillcrest Boulevard, just past the post office, Pfeiffer said.

The Honda “overcorrected, went into a slide and hit a utility pole on the driver’s side door,” Pfeiffer said Tuesday.

Police obtained video and were looking for a blue vehicle, he said Tuesday. Pfeiffer said Friday that the vehicle and the driver had been found and the investigation is continuing. No charges have been filed, he said.
