Residents of Richmond and the surrounding communities are invited to enjoy a citywide fireworks display, courtesy of the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

The fireworks will launch at approximately 10 p.m. July 2. The display will be shot from its usual location near Southview Park. A rain date is set for July 3.

“These are exciting times for the chamber and for our community. We think this is a great opportunity to celebrate our nation’s birthday together, as one big, happy family,” said Renee Kellerman, chamber director.

J&M Displays is once again in charge of the pyrotechnics, with the show costing $13,800. The chamber is requesting community support to help offset the cost.

“We’re so appreciative of our business and community sponsors who have donated to this year’s fireworks,” Kellerman said. “But every little donation helps us fund this event so we can continue to have them year after year.

Area businesses donating to this year’s fireworks so far include USG-Bryan Howard, Ron Peterson Consulting, Gill Endeavors-Drew Gill, Equitable Advisors-Troy Rust, the city of Richmond, Richmond Parks and Recreation, Community Bank of Missouri, Missouri Farm & Home Insurance, the Kiwanis Club of Richmond, the Farris Theatre, The Jones Store, Oswald Crow Insurance, CMCCU, Ag Power and Bridge of Hope.

Individuals contributing are Maxine Moore, Mike and Julie Chowning, and Becky Treccariche.

If you’d like to make a financial donation to this year’s fireworks display, contact the chamber at 816-776-6916 or go online at http://alturl.com/ g7bxx and make a donation through the chamber’s Square account. Then, gather the family and watch this year’s Fourth of July fireworks display July 2 at Richmond’s Southview Park.
