YOUNGSTOWN — A hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck left the cyclist with serious injuries and shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 231 at State 20 on Friday morning.

A man in his 30s was driving a black Honda motorcycle south on U.S. 231 in the inside lane when a silver Ford pickup truck heading north on U.S. 231 turned into his path at 10:56 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said they believe the pickup driver did not see the motorcyclist.

The motorcycle hit the right front of the truck and continued into the median and northbound lanes of U.S. 231 before coming to rest on the east shoulder of the highway.

Bay County Sheriff's Office deputies announced at 11:20 a.m. that all northbound lanes of U.S. 231 would be closed until FHP cleared the scene.

The pickup truck continued on, heading into Calhoun County on State 20.

Troopers later caught up to him. FHP identified him only as a 60-year-old man from Eastpoint.

The unidentified motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
