SAGINAW, MI — The Downtown Saginaw Farmers’ Market is opening for a special Night Market event with extra vendors, live music and a pasta fundraiser Monday evening, June 27.

The Night Market will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. outside of the SVRC Marketplace, 203 S. Washington Ave. in downtown Saginaw. A pasta fundraiser presented by Old Town Saginaw’s Artisan Urban Bistro and benefitting the farmers’ market will begin at 5:30 p.m.

“We’ve done night markets, but nothing to this scale,” said Marisa Loranger, Downtown Saginaw Farmers’ Market assistant manager. “Lonnie from Artisan Urban Bistro is going to be doing a pasta fundraiser here. We’ve got a live band coming out. We’ve got extra vendors.”

In addition, The BoardRoom, a bistro located inside the SVRC Marketplace building, will offer a signature drink for the evening, and Counter Cruise, a community cycling group, will begin and end its bike ride at the market Monday evening.

Loranger said farmers’ market officials aim to offer more evening events this summer, and the market will be open on Mondays beginning in July.

“Look out for more events because this is something we’ve really enjoyed creating, and we’re going to continue to make happen,” she said.

The farmers’ market can be found under the pavilion at downtown Saginaw’s SVRC Marketplace, 203 S. Washington Ave. It is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. From July 1 through Aug. 29, the farmers’ market will also be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday.
