Former Springside Academy teacher pleads guilty to child pornography charges

42-year-old Andrew Wolf admitted to catfishing and soliciting sexual images and videos from teenage boys

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A former teacher at the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 42-year-old Andrew Wolf, pleaded guilty Thursday to multiple child pornography offenses, including impersonating teenage girls to solicit sexual images and videos from underage boys.

“A teacher facilitating the sexual exploitation of his young students is the stuff of parents’ nightmares — and an instant priority for the FBI,” said Jacqueline Maguire, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division.

Wolf and his accomplice, 20-year-old Kray Strange of Carthage, NY both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture child pornography, along with several counts of manufacture and attempted manufacture of child pornography.

Prosecutors say Wolf gave Strange information about his own middle school students at Springside Academy, and Strange would then target them to give the images and videos.

“Both of these defendants violated the privacy and innocence of children, but Andrew Wolf also violated the trust of the community in which he taught by victimizing his own students,” said U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero.

“Our office and our law enforcement partners are committed to doing the difficult work of investigating and prosecuting these crimes in order to hold child sexual predators accountable.”

The pair could face the rest of their lives in prison.
