Six Flags New England loses bet, is forced to rename ride after winning Golden State Warriors for the weekend

Six Flags New England will be renaming its iconic ride, the New England SkyScreamer, to the Golden State SkyScreamer from Saturday, June 25, to Sunday, June 26, according to a press release from the amusement park.

The renaming of the ride comes out of a wager that Six Flags New England lost to its sister park Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in San Francisco.

Earlier this month the two amusement parks set a wager to see who would win the NBA Championship game series between the Boston Celtics and the San Francisco Golden State Warriors. Since the Celtics lost, as part of the wager Six Flags New England had to temporarily change the name of the New England SkyScreamer.

“We New Englanders are all too familiar with being crowned champions – 17 titles – and welcome a rematch between the two coasts very soon. In the interim we invite guests to take part in the fun and ride the limited edition Golden State SkyScreamer, ” said Park President Pete Carmichael in a press release.
