The Madison County Department of Health will provide COVID-19 vaccines for young kids aged six months to five years old starting in early July.
The announcement follows new recommendations from the CDC and FDA greenlighting the vaccines for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. They are the last group approved for the shots. According to a release, the Health Department received an initial supply of vaccines and will be hosting infant clinics, after they learned many pediatricians and pharmacies lack the resources to vaccinate infants.
The Vaccine will be available to kids at 138 N Court St, Building #5, Public Health Conference Room in Wampsville on the following dates:
- Tuesday, July 12, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM,
- Tuesday, July 26, 9:00 AM-11:30 AM,
- Tuesday, August 9, 1:00-3:30 PM
- Wednesday, August 31, 9:00-11:30 AM
Parents must make an appointment to get their children vaccinated. To make an appointment, call 315-366-2848 and have your insurance card ready.
The Department of Health will also provide vaccine supplies to pediatric providers as they request them. Parents are encouraged to reach out to their child’s pediatrician or provider to ask about getting vaccinated and for any questions.
Some pharmacies will offer vaccinations as supplies arrive, however, they can only vaccinate children ages 3 and up as required by law.
