ASHTON—A 20-year-old Sheldon man was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, on Osceola County warrants for first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest of Rian Christopher Dale Engelkes stemmed from the stop of a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, on the Highway 60 expressway about a mile north of Ashton, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

A consent search of the vehicle located small resealable baggies, one of which had white residue and two which had marijuana residue; a hypodermic needle; a blue elastic band; and marijuana in a pot pipe.

The two occupants of the vehicle told the deputy the items belonged to Engelkes.

The driver contacted Engelkes, who admitted the items were his, according to the incident report.

Warrants then were issued for the arrest of Engelkes.
