VC)--Following recent outbreaks of two canine viruses, Enid SPCA will host a free drive-thru dog vaccination clinic Sunday. Eight local veterinarians will be administering distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza and parvo (DAPP) vaccines and rabies vaccines from 9:00 a.m. to noon Sunday in the Stride Bank Center parking lot, 301 S. Independence. Vickie Grantz, executive director of Enid SPCA said the dog vaccination clinic is just about trying to have a healthier community. Distemper and parvovirus recently were reported to be causing issues in the region. The best protection against these canine viruses is vaccination, Grantz said. Three stations will be set up on Sunday during the dog vaccination clinic which is free to community members. Grantz said pet owners are encouraged to stay inside their vehicles with their animals and keep their dogs on leashes. Grantz said many sponsors made the dog vaccination clinic possible.

FA)--Voters in Enid on Tuesday will consider the approval of a 25-year extension of a franchise agreement between the city of Enid and O.G.& E., granting the utility the right to produce, transmit and distribute electricity within city limits for another 25 years, extending a non-exclusive franchise agreement in place since 1927.  In exchange, the Oklahoma utilities company would provide the city of Enid revenue from a long-standard 3% franchise fee on all electricity sold, as well as a half-percent credit on kilowatt hours sold in Enid. Revenue from the franchise fee goes to the city of Enid’s general fund, for general operating expenses throughout the year. OG&E also would continue to provide the city with annual $100,000 grants for economic development purposes for five years. OG&E previously had provided annual $100,000 payments for 15 years, along with myriad other economic development incentives, under the current franchise passed in 1997.
