Springfield man dies after being stabbed Thursday night
A Springfield man died late Thursday evening after being stabbed.
Springfield police said they were called to HSHS St. John's Hospital at 10:32 p.m. Thursday after the 26-year-old man arrived at the hospital with multiple stab wounds to his upper torso. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said the man was pronounced dead at 11:19 p.m. by hospital staff.
The stabbing occurred in the 1500 block of East Cook Street.

An autopsy is scheduled for today. Identification of the man is pending notification of next of kin.
The death is being investigated as a homicide by both Springfield police and the coroner's office.
