If the Steelers are going to be successful this season, they’re going to need running back Najee Harris to have a breakout year, but one NFL insider doesn’t see it happening.
Former NFL offensive lineman and Audacy NFL insider Ross Tucker tells The Fan Morning Show he doesn’t see anything special with the second-year RB.
“I was not overly impressed by him, like I don’t see it,” said Tucker. “I think he’s fine . . . I think he’s a good starting running back but I don’t think he’s a star player.”
Co-host Colin Dunlap told Tucker while he would never draft a running back in the first round, like the Steelers did with Harris, he thinks Harris can be better in 2022 if the offensive line can do its job and whatever quarterback starts, is able to throw a deep ball, unlike Ben Roethlisberger last year.
“I’m just talking about when he has the ball, I didn’t see rare power, I didn’t think he made many people miss, I didn’t see a whole lot of explosiveness, I thought he was fine, I mean I thought he as a good starting running back,” said Tucker.
Tucker also says he doesn’t think Harris will ever be the top running back in the NFL or even in the top five.
Even if he believes Harris isn’t as good as advertised, Tucker says they’ll have to ride Harris because he believes the offensive line will be below average and whoever is the quarterback will also be below average.
