Okaloosa deputies rescue teens, child stranded on river, feared alligators surrounded them

Two teenagers and another youth were rescued by Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputies Tuesday night after they became stranded on the Yellow River.

Two 18-year-olds and a 12-year-old called for help after they got stranded while tubing "deep on the river," according to a Facebook post by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the OCSO, they told deputies it became too dark to see while they were out on the river and they feared “they were surrounded by alligators.”

Two deputies made it about a mile and a half up the river on a boat before the river became impassible. Deputies got out and swam up the river to find the youths, who   were safe and later escorted to a boat launch, the OCSO reported.
