On Sunday, July 24, area golfers will hit the course at the Legacy Golf Club to spend the day enjoying one of their favorite hobbies and participating in a friendly competition.

These golfers will be participating in the “Putts Fur Mutts” Golf Outing to benefit Fur Angels Rescue.

“As a volunteer with Fur Angels Rescue, I see firsthand the impact that this non-profit organization has on animals in our community–like a cat named Gunner who was hit by a car and had a fractured leg and a broken pelvis, and a dog named Bella who needed help finding a home after her owner passed,” said event co-chair Jill Borkowski of Holland.

She added, “Gunner and Bella and our adopted pets are the reason I am co-chairing this event. My husband and I wanted to honor our pets who have passed–our dogs Belle and Bailey and our cat Oreo–by doing something special to help homeless dogs and cats.”

The event, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch from Outback Steakhouse Toledo, dessert bar and silent auction.

Donuts, bagels and coffee and a mimosa/screwdriver/ bloody Mary cash bar will be available at registration.

The cost is $100 per golfer by July 1, and $110 thereafter. Teams and individuals are welcome. Nongolfers can attend the silent auction and lunch for $25 per person.

Auction items will include: a Zamboni ride at a Toledo Walleye game; a chance to watch batting practice on the field prior to a Boston Red Sox home game and a tour of Fenway Park; a one-night stay at the Omni Hotel in Chicago; a chance to throw out the first pitch at a Toledo Mud Hens game, and Cincinnati Reds tickets.

To register or inquire about hole sponsorships, call Ms. Borkowski at 419-367- 6828 or send an email to jill.borkowski@yahoo. com.

The registration form, a full list of auction items and regular updates are available at facebook.com/puttsfurmutts.

Supporters such as Paws and Remember of Northwest Ohio and Mark Feldstein and Associates help underwrite expenses associated with the event.

Net proceeds from the Putts Fur Mutts will be donated to Fur Angels Rescue, an all-volunteer group that provides temporary and long-term shelter, warmth and safety, food, medical treatment and love in a network of foster homes until each dog or cat finds its forever home.
