UPDATE: 5 children removed from home where 3-year-old boy was found dead in freezer

DETROIT – A 3-year-old boy was found dead in a freezer when police conducted a welfare check early Friday, June 24, at a Detroit home, FOX 2 Detroit reports.

Detroit police officers were called to the home on Monte Vista Street near I-96 and Grand River Avenue Friday morning. Upon arrival, they discovered the child’s body in a freezer in the basement, the report said. Neither the cause of death nor the victim’s identity have been released. It’s also unclear when the child died.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested at the scene, the report said. Her relation to the deceased child is unknown.

This case is under investigation. No further information has been released.
