Lightweights and light heavyweights will compete at the first of three Professional Fighters League playoff events, with tickets available for the fights at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden beginning at noon Friday.
Lightweight semifinalists Anthony Pettis, Alexander Martinez and Olivier Aubin-Mercier already have qualified for the Friday, Aug. 5 playoff event along with light heavyweights Antonio Carlos Junior — the 2021 champion at 205 pounds — Rob Wilkinson, Omari Akhmedov and Delan Monte. The final slot in the 155-pound semis will go to 2021 season winner Raush Manfio, unless Stevie Ray can finish Pettis by 2:41 of the third round when the two face each other Friday night in Atlanta.
The winners from each weight class’ semifinal bouts will meet in the fall as the PFL championship event, with division winners securing a $1 million prize.
