UPDATE: At approximately 11:17 a.m., the driver of the vehicle has died as a result of his injuries from the crash. His name will not be released due to being a juvenile.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A teenager was seriously injured in a late night crash in Reno on Thursday.
Crews responded to a single vehicle crash on South McCarran Blvd. and Cashill Blvd around 11:23 p.m. on June 23. The vehicle and single occupant failed to maintain their lane and left the roadway causing it to roll several times. The 16-year-old boy, who was the only occupant, was extricated by Reno Fire Department and transported to Renown with several life threatening injuries.
Authorities say speed appears to be a factor in this case.
The roadway was closed for several hours while officers conducted the investigation. The road was reopened at 6 a.m. on June 24 with no restrictions.
