Man robs, assaults woman at fish & chicken restaurant in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking the community for tips regarding a robbery and assault at a fish and chicken restaurant.

Officials say the robbery occurred on Tuesday, June 14, at approximately 9:40 a.m., inside the Great Lakes Fish and Chicken restaurant, located in the 20400 block of Van Dyke.

According to the Detroit Police Department, the suspect approached a 64-year-old female victim, knocked her to the ground, grabbed her purse and physically assaulted her.

The suspect then fled the location on foot with the victim’s purse, containing an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency, a driver’s license and an assortment of credit cards.

No injuries were reported.
