SAGINAW, MI — Saginaw’s Cruz Thru Mexican Kitchen is celebrating its grand opening this weekend with food, music and prizes.
The grand opening event at Cruz Thru Mexican Kitchen, 2525 E. Genesee Ave., is scheduled to take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 26. The restaurant, known for its menudo and award-winning tamales, first opened in May.
“We’re getting a lot of support from the Saginaw community, so we’ve been blessed,” said Raquel Rocha, who owns the new location with her cousin Michael Cruz.
Michael Cruz, along with his father, Santos Cruz, owns Cruz Kitchen, a market with more than a century of history on Saginaw’s East Side. Cruz Kitchen will continue to operate at 1200 Martha St.
“With the soft opening, we didn’t think we’d get the big response that we did,” Rocha said, noting that customers have been supportive and thanked them for investing in the city. “Its just been good all the way around.”
